So I was reading Hebrews 11 this morning. Reflecting on Doug's sermon from July 4. Reflecting on my wasted attempts to manage my own sin. All the hard work I was putting in to accomplish something I am incapable of doing. And I started thinking about Moses, and I saw a parallel there that I hadn't seen before.

You know the question:

If a tree falls in the woods and there is no one to hear it, does it make a sound?

What do you say to a graduating class? You have been invited to be the guest speaker. You will address the high school or college graduating class of 2010 and all their loved ones. What do you say?

God save our gracious Queen,

One of the most poignant ways I have learned about God is through being a mother.

Follow the Leader is a children's game, but it also describes a disciple of Jesus. When you join the children's game sometimes you end up doing goofy stuff because the leader did. If you're going to play you have to follow the leader. It's the same when we follow Jesus. Sometimes what he does seems goofy, even stupid. So we have to decide...am I in, or out?

Yoda, the Jedi Master from Star Wars, asks this great question, "So certain are you?" And the answer is often, Yes, I'm certain I know what is going to happen next. Hmmm...so certain are you?

Forest Gump's mom taught him, Stupid is as stupid does. Sometimes the things Jesus asks of us don't make sense in the present world. So what do we do when it's Stupid is as Jesus does?
